Minimum Pack Size Requirement
Maryland law prohibits:
- Selling or distributing cigarettes in packages of fewer than 20
This includes:
- Free sample cigarettes
All cigarette packages:
- Must contain at least 20 cigarettes
Vending Machine Restrictions
Cigarette vending machine sales are prohibited unless:
- The machine requires a token, card, or similar device obtained from the operator
- The machine is located in an area where minors are not allowed
- The machine is located in a qualifying private organization
Certification Requirement
Vending machine operators must:
- Submit a list of all machine locations
- Certify that each machine meets one of the allowed conditions
This certification:
- Is required for new and renewal licenses
